Setup Instructions

The easiest way to setup your sight is to simply email the information at the end of this page, and let us do it. If you want to do it yourself, do the following. It is a good idea if you let us know your userid and password so we can make changes in emergencies.

Web Hosting

1. Print these instructions, or open a second browser window with these instructions, so you will have the following information and instructions as you complete the domain registration process.

2. Go to Register.com to register your domain. Select an available domain, and go through registration process. This is a straightforward process, but will likely take ten to fifteen minutes after you choose an available domain name. Credit card payment for registration is required. After finishing the registration process, select link " Direct your Domain Name to your current Web Site."

3. Log on with the username, password, and domain name you have registered.

4. Click "Change IP" from links at top of page.

5. Click "Edit IP" button.

6. Add your domain name (an entry of *.yourdomain.com may already be entered, if so, choose Edit, change the name to yourdomain.com, and enter the IP address in the next paragraph.)

7. Add mail.yourdomain.com with the IP address 64.123.167.50.

6. Under the column labeled "IP Address", the numbers for each domain and alias other than mail (each separate field) should be 207.111.199.139 and click "Yes". This points your domain name to our IP address.

7. If correct as shown on screen which appears, click "Yes" to confirm change.

Mail Hosting and Forwarding

These steps are recommended for all domains, and need to be taken even if you only want mail to the domain to be aliased to the contact's email address, and forwarded to that address without using us as an actual mail host where your mail is stored and accessed. (i.e., webmaster@yourdomain forwarded to your actual email address)

8. Click "Change MX" from links at top of page.

9. Click "Add MX" button.

10. In the blank field under "Mail Server", enter mail.yourdomain where "yourdomain" is the name of the domain you have registered (e.g. "xyhost.net", so that the full entry will look like "mail.xyhost.net").

11. Click the "Yes" button.

12. If correct as shown on the next screen which appears, click "Yes" to confirm change.

Adding Aliases (Additional Names) for Your Domain

If you desire to have additional subdomains, such as "sales.xyhost.net", then do the following:

13. Click "Domain Alias" from links at top of page.

14. Click "Add Alias" button.

15. In the blank field under "Domain Alias", enter subdomain.yourdomain where "subdomain.yourdomain" is the name of the domain you have registered (e.g. "sales.xyhost.net", so that the full entry will look like "sales.xyhost.net").

16. In the blank field under "Domain Name", enter yourdomain where "yourdomain" is the name of the domain you have registered (e.g. "xyhost.net", so that the entry will look like "xyhost.net").

17. Click the "Yes" button.

18. If correct as shown on the next screen which appears, click "Yes" to confirm change.

Notify Us

For now, call Walter at 214.363.2400, with the following information and arrange for payment (leave a voice mail if you don't get him, and he'll call you back) and email the following information to him at wwh@xyhost.net.
